SCREENINGS
Many films here are seeing an Edmonton audience for the first time.
C-Tribe x Film runs screenings across Edmonton venues for six days. Features, documentaries, shorts, experimental work. After the credits roll, the filmmaker is in the room and the conversation starts. No velvet ropes. You watch the film, then you talk to the person who made it.
PREMIERES
First screenings. The filmmaker introduces the film. The audience asks the first questions it will ever hear.
Premiere screenings are the centrepiece of C-Tribe x Film. These are Canadian and world premieres selected by our programming team. The filmmaker stands up before the lights go down, introduces the work, and after the credits, takes questions from the audience. Opening night and closing night each anchor to a premiere event.
Press and industry professionals can request priority seating through the CLabs portal.

Short films are where careers start.
We programme shorts into thematic blocks of about 90 minutes each, so the audience gets a journey, not a random playlist. Narrative, documentary, animation, experimental. Each block ends with a reception where the filmmakers are in the room.
We prioritise work from filmmakers in underestimated communities. First-time directors, Indigenous storytellers, diaspora voices, artists working outside the mainstream pipeline. There is no entry fee.
The audience votes on a favourite. The filmmaker gets recognized on stage at our closing event.
Submit your filmDIRECTOR Q&As
The lights come up. The filmmaker is still in the room.
Every premiere and showcase block includes a moderated Q&A with the director and key creative team. A working film critic or programmer leads the first ten minutes, then the floor opens to the audience. People ask about craft, funding, process, distribution, whatever they want to know.
Premiere Q&As run 30 to 45 minutes. For filmmakers in the audience, this is where you learn how people actually get films finished and seen.
INDUSTRY PANELS
People who make films reach audiences, talking about how.
Producers, distributors, agents, and working filmmakers on stage together. Topics run from financing independent features to festival strategy to building a career outside of Los Angeles. Every panellist does the work. No one is there to talk about it in the abstract.
DISTRIBUTION WORKSHOPS
You made the film. Now what?
Distribution workshops cover the practical side of getting independent work seen. Sessions are led by sales agents, festival programmers, and platform buyers who explain what they look for, how deals get structured, and what filmmakers can do right now to position their work.
These are working sessions. Preparing deliverables, building an audience before you need one, understanding self-distribution, and making the case to a sales agent or aggregator.
Pitch meetings
One-on-one sessions with distribution partners. Apply through the CLabs portal and bring your screener and press kit.
